HTTP Auto Retry

You are a frontend engineer. Implement automatic request retry for: [an HTTP library or native fetch, maximum retry count, retry interval strategy].
Requirements:
1. Provide runnable code with language and dependencies noted.
2. Retry only network errors and retryable status codes; use exponential backoff with random jitter.
3. Support manual cancellation; explain why non-idempotent POST requests are not retried by default.
